Through our nursing experiences prior to starting Private Duty Home Healthcare, we have both had the opportunity of caring for people of all ages, from infants to the very elderly. We have gained knowledge, experience and understanding of caring for individuals with a variety of disabilities, diseases, illnesses, and surgical issues. We have also learned how to deal with a variety of social situations and different family dynamics and the impact of an illness or the loss of a loved one on the family. All of this experience has made us what we like to call strong nurses. Caring for others is what we do best. |
A little bit about us...
Lori CostanzaI was born in Oklahoma City, and grew up around the country; Illinois, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and finally Michigan. I married a farmer from Sodus, Michigan who was born and raised here with no intentions of ever leaving, so after moving around the country for the first 25 years of my life, I finally found my home. My background in healthcare started when I was 16 and became a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) at a local nursing home where my 2 older sisters also worked as CNA's. This is where I gained such a warm affection for the elderly. It always bothered us (my sisters and me) that the nursing home was so "un-home like", and we had many conversations about how when we grew up, we would open our own group home that would be as close to "just like home" as one could get. I went to nursing school in Seattle, Washington, I worked part time as a home health aide and CNA during that time. I graduated in 2000 and began working in a Seattle hospital on the Renal/ Urology and Kidney Transplant Unit until I moved to Michigan in 2003. Since then I have worked at a Hospital in St. Joseph, MI, in the Emergency Department. I believe that private duty nursing offers an even more superior option to individuals than the group home my sisters and I used to dream about opening, because it's not "just like home", it is home. |

Michelle StreetI was born on an Air Force Base in Homestead, Florida, to a Navy family. My parents both being from the St. Joseph/Benton Harbor area, moved back when I was a small child. I am a graduate of St. Joseph High School and look forward to watching my children graduate from there as well. As a young adult I watched hospice nurses care for my grandmother and thought they were the most amazing people I had ever encountered. The way they cared for my grandmother and our family touched my heart. A few years later I decided to give back to other people the compassion we were given. I earned a nursing degree at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor. I first completed the Licensed Practical Nursing Program and then went on to complete the Registered Nurse program. I have experience as a nurse tech in the Behavioral Medicine unit, as a nurse in the Emergency Department, and also as a Restorative Nurse in the long term care setting. I have been a nurse in the Emergency Department in St. Joseph since 2003 |
